MoP Practitioner

Course Overview

MoP Practitioner is a 2-day non-residential course, which will consolidate and add to the knowledge and experience gained in the Management of Portfolios Foundation course to take you to the level required to sit the OGC's Management of Portfolios (MoP) Practitioner level exam. The course concentrates on an understanding of how to apply the Foundation qualification learning to a scenario so the course emphasises preparation for the Practitioner exam.

The MoP Practitioner exam is a 3-hour, open book exam taken on day 2 of the course.

This course is accredited by the APMG who are the examining body for MoP and responsible for all aspects of the provision of exams including setting, marking, feedback and appeals. Scoll Methods, as an accredited training organisation, acts as its agent in providing administrative facilities.

Pre-Requisites

The Scoll Methods Management of Portfolios (MoP) Foundation course is a mandatory pre-requisite for attending this course.

A 50% pass mark in the MoP Foundation exam is a pre-requisite for sitting the MoP Practitioner exam.

Pre-Course Preparation

We suggest that you refresh your Foundation course knowledge by reading through your course notes and the MoP manual – ‘Management of Portfolios’.

The detailed case study information pack will be dispatched to you prior to the course with which you will need to familiarise yourself since this is the basis for the Practitioner exam scenario.

Examination Details

MoP Practitioner exam is designed to test your understanding of the basic concepts of MoP. This is a 3-hour, open-book, Objective Test consisting of 8 equally weighted questions (all of which must be answered) on a given, unseen scenario. You must get 50% of the marks in order to pass. This exam is taken on day 2 of the course. The types of question that you will complete include multiple choice, confirming if statements made about the scenario are correct or not, placing proposed options into the sequence suggested by the MoP guidance, and stating whether assertions made about the scenario match with reasons provided to explain the assertion.

It provides you with sufficient understanding and knowledge in the principles and practices of the OGC's Portfolio Management guidance (MoP 2011) to act as a Portfolio Director or Portfolio Manager or to act as a member of a Portfolio Committee.
