Course Outline

P3O Practitioner is a 2½-day non-residential course with nightly homework designed to follow on from the P3O Foundation course. The course is designed to give significant practicial reinforcement to the knowledge gained during the Foundation course while at the same time preparing candidates for the APMG P3O Practitioner exam.

The course is based completely on a mixture of class exercises interlaced with opportunities to tackle sample Practitioner exam questions that address the topics covered just previously in the classroom. Class sizes are kept small to facilitate lecturer – student interaction and class discussion.

The class exercises follow the Permanent P3O Model lifecycle starting with a review of an outline Vision Statement drafted in the process step Identify the P3O, and a Blueprint and Business Case drafted in the process step Defining the P3O. The exercises also help delegates understand the skills and competencies that may be required of the P3O staff to be appointed during the process step Deliver the P3O.

Delegates are introdcued to key techniques, including Swim-lane process models, Project Complexity Modeling and Management Dashboards.

The format of all of the case study group activity is to review and critique model P3O documents or to propose appropriate content for partially completed documents. Delegates are working always from exemplar documents and models based on a sample APMG Practitioner exam scenario.

The optional 'open book' objectively marked, Practitioner exam is taken during the morning of the course's final day. The exam is a 2¼ hours, 7 question, Objectively Test in which delegates must get 50% (35 marks) correct in order to pass.

The APMG is the examining body for PRINCE2 and responsible for all aspects of the provision of exams including setting, marking, feedback and appeals. Scoll Methods, as an accredited training organisation, acts as their agent in providing administrative facilities.
